starved for internet!

a quick note before we get going so we get back to tsinghua campus before the gate closes. we've been going like crazy - this is a photo of the Master of Nets garden in suzhou. beautiful, huh? i'll try to put up more photos later. i've been starved for internet and it was great to find this cafe. it's outside of campus so we biked out here. we bought bikes today for 220 yuan, which is about 25 dollars! awesome! i've managed to not crash into anyone in the big game of pedestrian/biker/car chicken.

more later, when we finally get a real internet connection. how come it's so hard to get stuff done here? there are fewer people who speak english than i thought there would be, and when you say you don't understand chinese they just speak more chinese! nobody believes i'm not chinese, regardless of what i say. food is good, not as good as it is in the states though, so i feel like i must not be eating anywhere good. everything is all very familiar, though i expected it all to be alien.

we're staying in a guesthouse on campus that's basically a hostel. it's pretty nice, and we're scattered throughout th ebuilding. the campus is huge!
